Private sector urged to invest in public transportation system

TEHRAN (IRNA) – Tehran Municipality has called on the private sector to invest in the capital's public transportation fleet and help with its development.

Deputy Mayor of Tehran for traffic and public transportation affairs, Jafar Hashemi, told IRNA that solving the traffic problem in Tehran is the prime priority of the municipality.

He added the most significant expectation of Tehran citizens is the development of public transportation fleet.

Hashemi said the private sector's participation in equipping the public transportation fleet can meet the expectation of people in this regard.

"With the entry of the private sector, a large number of public transport vehicles including buses and minibuses will start services on Tehran streets," he said, referring to the facilities provided for the private sector to develop the public transportation system.
